Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 26, 2026

ExeDock (the app and the website exedock.com) is provided by JIAJI COMPANY LIMITED (Taiwan, tax ID 54255401). This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Website interaction measurement

  • Game files, saves and text are not sent to us. If you enable Remote Play, game audio and video go directly to the phone you approve.

The adult site uses a first-party session cookie to remember adult confirmation (the fixed value 1, with no birth date or identity information). It only prevents repeated prompts during this browsing session and is not used for tracking.

Personalized game recommendations

Enabled by default; turn it off in Settings → Personalized recommendations. The app sends game titles and store product IDs to EXEDOCK to match shared game tags and recommend games from enabled affiliate merchants. No account, credentials, file paths, saves, play history or anonymous installation ID are sent. Libraries and preferences are used only for that request and are not retained per player. Unclassified Steam/DLsite product IDs enter a global queue; background jobs query SteamSpy or public DLsite product pages and save shared classifications in D1. External sources receive only product IDs, never player libraries. Turning this off stops these requests. Missing tags fall back to public DLsite rankings or aggregate EXEDOCK statistics. The app loads product covers from DLsite image servers. Purchase links may include affiliate codes and the selected language.

The app caches recommended products, the candidate pool and the last received merchant switches on this Mac for up to seven days, for offline display and rotation. Only a local library hash is also saved to check whether cached preferences still apply; the raw library is not stored in this recommendation cache. Disabling personalized recommendations deletes it. Offline devices use the last received merchant settings until they reconnect.

The app also records recommended product identifiers and display times locally to favor products not seen in the previous three days. This impression history is never transmitted. When inventory is limited, the oldest impressions become eligible first. Disabling personalized recommendations also clears this history.

DLsite products are recommended only while you are signed in to DLsite in the app. Otherwise the recommendation request asks to leave out DLsite, and only other enabled merchants are used; this is used for that request only and is not stored.

Optional Remote Play

After pairing is approved, library titles, engines, available runtime choices and running status are sent directly to that phone, which may start library games and stop the current game. Lists and commands are not sent to ExeDock or Cloudflare; game paths are not sent to the phone. Disconnecting keeps the game running.

Remote Play starts only after you install and enable the component, scan a pairing link and approve that session on your Mac. Media and input travel directly, encrypted, between your Mac and phone. ExeDock does not relay, upload or record your media in its storage.

Cloudflare temporarily processes a room ID, session public keys, hashes of access credentials and an expiry time. Signaling also processes SDP and ICE containing network addresses, which are shared with the paired endpoint. STUN processes addresses needed for connection discovery.

Pairing data lasts at most 120 seconds and is cleared on direct connection, rejection, failure or expiry. SDP and ICE are not written to databases or application logs. This data is not linked to anonymous installation IDs, community identities or newsletters. The phone caches static UI only, not media (for remembered connection keys, see below). You can stop the connection or remove the Mac component. Failed direct connections do not fall back to a paid media relay.

Remote standby (optional): after you choose “Allow and remember this phone” on your Mac, the phone’s browser keeps a private key it generated, which cannot be exported, and your Mac’s public key. Your Mac keeps remembered phones’ public keys and names locally, and you can remove them at any time. While standby is on, your Mac keeps one connection open to Cloudflare, which stores your Mac’s public key (identified by its hash) and a per-minute count of connection requests, used only to pass a remembered phone’s request to your Mac. Cloudflare does not store the list of phones and never handles media or your library. Turning standby off closes that connection.

Usage statistics (optional): with “Automatically send anonymous play data” on, ExeDock on your Mac sends, after each phone connection, how long it lasted, how it connected (QR code or Remote standby), how it ended (for example ended on the phone, the Mac went to sleep, the network dropped) and whether games were started from the phone, together with the anonymous installation ID. If an approved phone cannot establish the direct connection, it sends only that this happened, how it was connecting and a failure reason code. This is separate from the pairing data above, contains no phone, Mac or network identifiers and no picture, sound or input, and is kept like other anonymous play records. The pairing service separately counts only daily numbers of pairings, direct connections and connection requests, with no IDs or addresses.

At a glance

  • Your game files, saves, screen content and in-game text stay on your Mac and are never sent to us.
  • By default the app sends anonymous play info (such as the compatibility mode used, play time and whether the game exited normally) to improve compatibility and recommended settings. You can turn it off at any time at the bottom of the app’s Settings.
  • We do not collect names, accounts, Apple IDs, IP addresses, hardware serial numbers or location coordinates.
  • The community is optional: the nickname, posts and approved images you publish in the app’s Community are public. Authors are recognized by a key made on their Mac, kept separate from the anonymous play info and never linked to it.
  • The website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how it is used (which pages are viewed, where visitors come from, device type and approximate region), relayed through Cloudflare Zaraz and not used for advertising; the app does not use Google Analytics. Page views are also counted on our own server (no cookies, no IPs), and pressing “I want to play this on Mac” sets a separate random cookie to avoid double counting.
  • The newsletter is opt-in: it starts only after you click the confirmation e-mail, every e-mail has a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing deletes your address at once.
  • We may share aggregated statistics with game platforms or publishers; any group with fewer than 5 players is merged so no individual can be identified.

Anonymous play info sent by the app (on by default, can be turned off)

When a game starts and ends, the app sends:

  • Game identification: a hash computed from the game files, the title the developer set in the game’s own settings, or when there is none, its product name on Steam, GOG or DLsite or the product name in its program file, followed in parentheses by the name its window shows in the title bar while it runs (never folder names or file paths), the developer named in the game files, and the game engine and architecture.
  • The compatibility mode and runtime version used; if Steam started the game, a note that it was started by Steam (no Steam account, game ID or path).
  • The result: whether it launched, how many seconds it ran, and how it ended (for example a normal exit or a crash).
  • Your Mac: chip family (for example M2), memory size and macOS major version.
  • An anonymous installation ID: a random number created the first time the app runs, unrelated to your hardware, used to count players.
  • Country or region: a two-letter code derived from the connection by our hosting provider Cloudflare. We do not store IP addresses.
  • Usage: which recommended games you open in the app, whether you have added your first game, connected a game store for the first time (only that you did, never the account or what you own) and played your first game successfully, and, when a launch fails, the reason category (a fixed list of categories, never file paths or full error messages).

If you are offline, the app sends the record the next time it starts. If you turn the setting off, unsent records are deleted.

Issue reports and contacting us

  • Issue reports: when you report how a game played (you confirm each time), the app sends the result, the issue types you selected and that session’s anonymous info. There is no free-text field.
  • Rating after play: after a session the app may ask for a one-tap rating (perfect / playable / has issues / doesn’t work). Only pressing a rating sends it, together with that session’s anonymous info.
  • Contact form: sends the email address, topic and message you enter. If you include version info (checked by default), it also sends the app and macOS versions, the interface language, and the selected game’s library name, engine, compatibility mode and latest result. You can also attach up to 3 images yourself (such as screenshots); their metadata (such as EXIF and location) is removed before they are kept with your message. No logs or other files are attached automatically. Your message is sent to our support inbox and kept in our support records, used only to reply to you and follow up; our replies come from support@exedock.com.

Newsletter (opt-in)

You can subscribe on the website or in the app to “new game support” and “game deals”, or leave your e-mail on a game page to hear when that game becomes playable on Mac. We keep:

  • Your e-mail address, the topics you chose and the games you follow.
  • Interface language, where you signed up (website or app), your country/region at sign-up (decided by Cloudflare; no IP address is kept), and when you subscribed and confirmed.

We send one confirmation e-mail; mail starts only after you open its link and confirm. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days. Every e-mail has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address and followed games immediately. We only send what you chose and never sell or share the list.

“I want to play this on Mac” and store links

  • “I want to play this on Mac”: the website sets a random cookie when you press it (the app uses its anonymous installation ID). We keep only a hash of it, the country/region and the time, to count how many people want each game without counting anyone twice.
  • Game requests: the game name you enter and an optional store link, the country/region and the time. After review, the name and its vote count are shown publicly in the ranking. Votes use the same random cookie as “I want to play this on Mac” (the app uses its anonymous installation ID), stored only as a hash.
  • Store links: a store link on a game page or in the app first passes through exedock.com, which records the game, the store, website or app, the country/region and the time, then forwards you to the store. No IP address or identifier is recorded. These numbers are used in talks with stores.

ExeDock Community (optional)

When you post a review, an issue report or a reply in the app’s Community, we keep:

  • The title and text you write, the images you upload, the interface language and the time. An issue report can include your setup (ExeDock version, chip, macOS version, compatibility mode); you can turn this off when posting.
  • Your community identity: the app creates a key in your Mac’s Secure Enclave and the private key never leaves your Mac. We keep only the public key, a member number derived from it, and your nickname (generated automatically; you can change it). The community identity is separate from the anonymous installation ID, and we never link posts to play records; the community works with anonymous play info turned off.
  • Reports: the reported post, the reason and the time (on the website, with the same random cookie as “I want to play this on Mac”, stored only as a hash).

Nicknames, posts, replies and approved images are shown in the app and on exedock.com and may be indexed by search engines. The website shows a post only once it is 24 hours old and has not been reported. Images have EXIF, GPS and other metadata removed before they are published.

You can edit or delete your posts in the app at any time; a deleted post’s text and images are removed at once (search engine caches may take a while to update). We may remove content that breaks the terms of use.

Other connections

  • Optional GOG integration connects directly to GOG to sign in, read your owned library and download installers. Credentials stay in this Mac’s Keychain and are never sent to ExeDock servers. The owned library is held in memory; downloads stay in your chosen folder. Local download, installation, version and update-backup records also stay in this Mac’s ExeDock Application Support folder. Updates back up game files and the Windows environment locally and keep those backups after success. Signing out deletes local credentials, keeping downloads and saves. GOG and its download services handle connections under their own policies.
  • YouTube videos on the home page and game pages: normally only a thumbnail from our own server is shown; the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com only after you press play, and YouTube (Google) then handles it under its own privacy policy.
  • The app regularly fetches the recommended games list, recommended settings and update information from exedock.com. While “Automatically send anonymous play data” is on, the update check includes the anonymous installation ID and the app version, used to count active users and versions (the ID is stored as a hash, one record per installation per day); with the setting off it is not included. Personalized recommendation requests are described above.
  • Website page views: each day our server counts how often each page (including each game page) is viewed, with the interface language and country/region, and which website you came from (its domain only, e.g. google.com). No cookies and no IPs; search engines, link previews and browser prefetching are not counted.
  • Game search: the text you search for in the game list (up to 60 characters) and whether anything was found, to learn which games players want that are not listed yet. Please don’t type personal information into the search box.
  • When you download the app from exedock.com or update it in the app, we only count it per day (version, website download or in-app update, country/region). No IP address or identifier is recorded.
  • Open-source runtimes such as Wine, NW.js and DXVK are downloaded from their official release sites (GitHub, nwjs.io); D3DMetal is downloaded by you from Apple’s developer website. Those sites handle connection data under their own policies.

Processing on your Mac

Game text translation uses Apple’s built-in Translation, and on-screen text recognition uses Apple’s built-in Vision. Both run on your Mac; no text or images are sent to ExeDock.

Website

The website uses Google Analytics 4 (Google) to analyse visits, loaded through Cloudflare Zaraz: your browser only connects to exedock.com, and Cloudflare forwards the data to Google. Google Analytics receives the page address and title, the referring site, browser and device type, screen size, language and approximate region, and may set a first-party cookie (such as _ga) to tell visitors apart. We use it only to understand how the website performs, not for advertising. The website loads no external fonts or other third-party scripts; its other cookie is the random “I want to play this on Mac” value described above. Some store links for recommended games are affiliate links; the store’s own privacy policy applies once you follow them.

How we use data

  • To send the newsletter and game support notices you subscribed to.
  • To understand how the website is used and how it performs (our server-side page counts and Google Analytics), so we can improve it.
  • To determine how well games run on Mac and to create and rank recommended settings.
  • To fix problems and improve the app.
  • To produce aggregated statistics (players, play hours, countries or regions, Mac model distribution and trends) for partnership discussions with game platforms or publishers. Only aggregated figures are shared, and groups with fewer than 5 players are merged into “Other”.
  • To reply to your messages.

We do not sell data or use it for advertising.

Who can access data

  • Cloudflare: hosts the website, API and database, and sends email.
  • Google: receives the website’s visit analytics through Google Analytics 4, and nothing from the app.
  • Our email provider: receives messages sent to support@exedock.com.
  • Game platforms and publishers: aggregated statistics only, never individual records or installation IDs.
  • Authorities, where required by law.

Retention

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe and deleted at that moment; unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days.

Anonymous play records contain no personally identifying data and are kept and accumulated over the long term for compatibility statistics. Contact form messages (including attached images) and our replies are kept as our support history and are not deleted automatically; you can ask us to delete them at any time.

Google Analytics data from the website that can tell visitors apart is kept for at most 14 months.

Your choices

  • Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link; it stops mail immediately and deletes your address.
  • Turn off automatic sending under “Anonymous play info” at the bottom of the app’s Settings. Nothing more is sent, and unsent records are deleted.
  • To have your contact form messages, their images and our replies deleted, write to support@exedock.com and we will delete them right away.
  • If you do not want to be included in website analytics, block cookies or scripts in your browser or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on; the website keeps working fully.
  • Because records are anonymous, we cannot tell which records are yours. If you have any questions, write to support@exedock.com.

International transfers

Data is processed on Cloudflare’s global network and may be stored outside Taiwan.

Children

ExeDock does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes

We will announce significant changes to this policy on the website and in the app.
